WRONG!. . I’m not saying that high-intensity cardio isn’t effective or beneficial because it is . What I want you to understand is that high-intensity training or more specifically, cardiac power interval training lies at one extreme of intensity and long duration low intensity, or more accurate cardiac output training, is at the other extreme of cardiovascular conditioning as illustrated in my infographic . The reason I’m writing this is that if you listen to the mass media and only perform high-intensity training, you’re neglecting and missing out on a lot of gains by ignoring cardiac output training . You perform cardiac output training by maintaining your heart rate between 120-150bpm for 30-90 minutes . . . One of the major reasons I use this protocol is to improve the efficiency of my heart, allowing it to pump a greater volume of blood around my body per beat. This means I’m getting more oxygen and nourishment with each beat of my heart. . . My resting heart rate is less than 60bpm which also means less stress. I’m in more of a rest and digest state as opposed to people whose heart rate is above 60bpm, who are in more of a fight or flight state . I think you’ll agree that this is NOT ideal nor healthy . . Cardiac output training improves my work capacity during my workouts and improves my recovery between sets and bouts of exercise. . This translates to being able to do more work and still recover which equals more gainz💪. . . Hopefully, you now understand the value of this type of training. BTW, you don’t have to do traditional forms of cardio to get these benefits as long as you maintain your heart rate between 120-150bpm for 30-90 minutes each time. . I recommend 1-2 sessions of this type of training per week along with 1-2 sessions of “HIIT” per week to get a nice balance. . . Questions in the comments, please.
