I would argue that literally every exercise has a component of sagittal, frontal and transverse plane motion or stability. : The key is to remember that while big-bang movements like squats and deadlifts are going to be focused on the sagittal plane, they’re always going to have some element of frontal and transverse plane stability. : In contrast, split-stance and unilateral lifts will still typically move in the sagittal plane, but you’ll need more and more STABILITY or CONTROL in the frontal and transverse planes to be successful. : Work on truly owning your positioning and technique in the saggital plane, once you can perform bilateral movements like the squat efficiently, you better move to something more uncomfortable like the split squat, or you will find yourself uncomfortable in that back squat. : Reposting @chrisabeardsley Although the research available into the split squat is still very limited in comparison with the standard back squat, we can still assess it biomechanically in order to predict what specific types of strength it will be able to develop, when included in a strength training program. #sandcresearch #strengthandconditioning #strengthtraining #strength #sportsscience #biomechanics #exercisescience #research #sciencetopractice #performance #science #infographic #infographics #hypertrophy #muscle #splitsquat #squat #lowerbody #legday #quads #quadriceps #hamstrings #gluteusmedius #physiotherapy

Throwback to last year’s prep when things were going pretty well. I though I had finally nailed the whole “balance” thing that comes with experience. But, honestly I left a lot in the tank. I’m looking at the first two year off-season of my competitive bodybuilding career. A newborn and grad school will be more than enough to keep my plate full in 2018 and I think I can hold of on my favorite hobby for a while. . In my opinion even when taking a year off between seasons the pressure never seems to dissipate. But, right now I have no pressure whatsoever. Being a father, a husband, and taking advantage of scholarly and business opportunities is at the forefront of my focus. Training is actually a lot of fun now. I feel like I have a ton of time to make improvements and ultimately build the best stage-worthy dad-bod eva. . POSITIVE ALWAYS
