I said yes to the dress today! Not this one though, sorry guys 😜 At this point in my training career, I ve worked with a lot of brides and had the honor of helping so many women feel their best for their big day- so it s interesting to be on the other side of things. As a bride, there is an absurd amount of pressure to shred for the wedding and be the perfect, blushing, bride. And even though I work with women on a daily basis to help them focus on FEELING their best and not falling for the traps- I will admit that it s damn hard not to fall for them myself. I wanted to share a few tips that I talk to brides about often and that I m staying focused on myself- so, if you re a fellow bride who s possibly got some fitness goals for your coming nuptials, read below: 1. Pick a dress you feel beautiful in NOW-not 5 or 10 pounds from now. Don t put pressure on yourself to fit into a dress or a style that you don t feel comfortable in the moment you say YES. 2. Focus on FEELING GOOD. Things can get stressful. Exercise is awesome for you right now because it s something you re doing for yourself in this hectic time. But don t focus on a scale number or a set amount of pounds to lose. Ultimately, how you feel is going to be the most important thing through this process and especially on your wedding day- don t set yourself up to feel like shit because you re doing two-a-days in the gym or starving yourself to shed those three pounds you just HAVE to lose. Trust me, no one will notice the extra weight gone, but they ll probably notice how grumpy and miserable you are. 3. AVOID QUICK FIXES. If you want to make some changes before the wedding day, great. But give yourself time to do it and keep your goals realistic. As the wedding gets closer, it s only going to get harder. And PLEASE do not do any crazy last minute diets, cleanses, fasts, etc. For one, the faster you lose weight, the faster you gain it back. Also, see above about feeling good, enjoying this time, and not being a starved, insane, bridezilla to your friends + family. AND remember what the day is about. NOT how tiny your waist is, but spending the rest of your life with the person you love.
