This isn’t a transformation where I will talk about how I never worked out, that I ate like crap, that I lacked motivation or that I was lazy. These photos are 16 months apart. The left was taken while I was shooting my first cookbook cover and the right was taken last week. There is a 13 pound difference . The fact is, the left photo I was working out 5 days a week, cardio 3 hours a week, I ate clean and healthy food everyday but on Sunday for our cheat meal, I drank tons of water, I worked hard and had the discipline to get what I needed to do done . So what gives? What made a 13 pound weight loss happen if I “was doing everything right?” I was in a hamster wheel that many become trapped in even though they do what they need too. The thing I lacked was tracking my food and portion control . I receive countless messages every week from men and women asking what to do because they are not losing weight and “Only shop at Whole Foods” or “I only buy organic” and “I only eat clean”. Let’s be clear- everything you eat contains calories/macros. So just because you only buy/eat organic foods or only get your food from a certain source, that will not get you the results you want. Organic food is not “diet food”. Organic food is not a diet/fat loss plan. It’s simply food grown a specific way. Essentially like pan fried bacon versus oven baked bacon. It’s still bacon! . I had fallen off the food tracking wagon and just ate clean and healthful foods. However- it was an improper balance of my carbs & fats as well as lack of portion control that led me to hold a little extra weight. I would use too much oil in sautéing veggies, add too much peanut butter to a dish, not measure out the amount of cheese I was using, eating too much rice....You get the idea. I was eating foods deemed healthy- but just in excess . Once I started diligently tracking and measuring my food the weight fell off. I lost 7 pounds the first week alone! My body finally had the balance of macros it wanted and with seeing the results I was having, it gave me fuel to keep the fire burning and to be sure to stay on track . So if you are someone who feels (continued in first comment)

Tiny little feet peeking from an enclosed amniotic sac! This baby was born via c-section with the sac still completely intact and his feet visible pressing against the clear membrane of the sac. . Baby anatomy: Fetal Respiratory System: There are 4 different periods involved in the development of lung maturation. . 1) Pseudoglandular Period (weeks 6-16): lung development starts at week 6 in the womb and resembles an exocrine gland. By week 16, all major elements of the lung have formed except those involved in gas exchange. . 2) Canalicular Period (weeks 16-26): lumina of bronchi and terminal bronchioles become larger and lung tissue becomes highly vascular. . 3) Terminal Saccular Period (weeks 26-birth): alveolar ducts give rise to terminal saccules known as primordial alveoli. This terminal saccules are then lined by type 1 alveolar cells and type 2 alveolar cells. It is during this period that sufficient amount of surfactant is produced. . 4) Alveolar Period (weeks 32-8 years of age): In this stage the alveolocapillary membrane becomes sufficiently thin to allow gas exchange. About 95% of mature alveoli develop postnatally (after birth). . Clinical Relevance: the most common lung problem in a premature baby is respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). A baby develops RDS when the lungs do not produce sufficient amounts of surfactant, the substance that keeps the tiny air sacs in the lung open. As a result, a premature baby often has difficulty expanding her lungs, taking in oxygen, and getting rid of carbon dioxide. On a chest X-ray, the lungs of a baby with RDS look like ground glass. Fortunately, surfactant is now artificially produced and can be given to babies if doctors suspect they are not yet making surfactant on their own. . If you or a loved one has a baby that is experiencing these conditions, go to the emergency room immediately to prevent any further complications. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone! 🤓 .
