My motivation in the gym lately has been lacking hardcore. This is a common issue that effect a lot of gym goers.. so what do you do when this happens? ⬇️ For me i do ✌🏼 things... 1️⃣take a few days off to let my body rest and allow myself to miss the gym a bit. To much of anything is never a good thing so if your feeling burnt out, take a little break. 2️⃣ Switch up what your doing in the gym. For me i typically do the traditional bodybuilder split body routines. I like them however if we stay in one realm of training for to long the benefits become less and less. So i switch up my routine for a week or two. HOW TO FIND YOUR MACRONUTRIENT INTAKE FOR POWERLIFTERS‼️ 🔹 This post is aimed more toward my powerlifters BUT can also apply for GENERAL FITNESS GOALS if you’re looking to lose fat or gain muscle! Here I will demonstrate HOW to find your calories and macros and decide whether you want to cut down, bulk up, or maintain EFFICIENTLY! 1️⃣Here is the general conversions from macros to calories that you must know! Protein: 4 calories per 1g Carbs: 4 calories per 1g Fats: 9 calories per 1g 2️⃣You must find your MAINTENANCE CALORIES before deciding to cut or bulk or maintain. To do this: multiply your BODYWEIGHT by 14-17. Anywhere between those numbers should maintain your weight. (Bodyweight x 14-17= maintenance calories) 3️⃣PROTEIN INTAKE: 1-1.4g per lbs of BODYWEIGHT! This will ensure whether you diet down or bulk up that you’ll maintain or gain muscle! 4️⃣FAT INTAKE: 25-30% of your calories! To find grams: 25-30% of cal/9 = fat grams. As a powerlifter we work with high intensity and lots of volume. Based off my experience with clients, studies from NASM and Eric Helms, 30% is recommended so that your health is maintained and your joints stay safe! 5️⃣Leave the rest to carbohydrates! As important as carbs are to proper training, they are not essential. But do not neglect carbs because they are helpful! To find carbs: Total Cal - (protein+fat calories) = carb calories THEN Carb calories/4 = carbs in grams 🔹 If you’re looking to cut weight, subtract 200 calories from your maintenance and then proceed to do the same calculations above! If you’re looking to gain weight, add 200 calories to your maintenance and then proceed to do the same calculations above! 🔹 These are MY recommendations as a Coach and my experience plus research. Cutting carbs to lose weight is a dumb idea and this is why: -- The immediate weight you lose is mostly glycogen and water weight. -- For every gram of glycogen in your body, there are 3 grams of water. Cut carbs, deplete glycogen, pee off the water that was bound to it. -- You ll probably drop at least 3-5 pounds in your first week, but as soon as you eat carbs and drink water again, that weight comes right back. -- It wasn t fat loss!!! -- If you want sustainable results, you need to create the right caloric deficit for your unique needs, and eat the right amount of protein, carbs, and fats to make sure you re maximizing fat loss and keeping as much muscle as possible. -- If you have no carbs, you re going to likely be in a phantom👻 zone between running off glucose or running off ketones, this is why you generally feel like crap every time you remove an entire macro category😩... -- Carbs aren t evil my friends, they re a great source of energy to fuel your life! (In conjunction with fats and protein of course)☺💪🏾
