People set unrealistic goals of losing such weights as 20 pounds in a month. That will only maybe be possible by starvation diet which is neither safe, nor effective in preserving muscle mass. Top line photos starting calories 2600 . Bottom line photos calories currently 3750 . From a coaching perspective the most exciting part of the job is everyone is unique in their goals,circumstances,rates of adaptation and therefore there is no one size fits all. . With @steevob10 goals very much performance based for soccer whilst staying in shape, we favoured the slower approach when increasing calories. This allowed us keep composition in a good place, stay on top of digestive health and gradually allow appetite adapt which can be the biggest challenges when increasing calories over the sheer volume of food. . With training fatigue minimised, performances escalating and recovery maximised along with composition improving every check in, we couldn’t be in a greater position entering 2018 and the business end of his soccer season.

No hamstring curl? No problem! What we have termed the Miller Hamstring Curl is a great option if you do not have a hamstring curl machine. The key is to keep most of the body in front of the rings so that it challenges you to decelerate gravity x your body weight. What a lot of people miss when during hamstring curl variations is that they let the hips stay in a flexed position. It is important to keep the hips extended and the pelvis in a neutral position so that the hamstrings are challenged at the top (attachment to the pelvis) and the bottom (attachment to the bottom of knee). If the hips stay in a relaxed or flexed position you are basically just training the bottom of the hamstrings to bend the knee rather than the top of the hamstrings as well, which aids in hip extension and is typically more useful to athletes and humans in general. Try and see if you want to add this to your posterior chain arsenal! #performance #sportsperformance

Olympic lifting is a common part of many strength and conditioning programs. 🏋🏼‍♂️ There is a significant body of evidence suggesting that including Olympic lifts within you’re program increases athletic ability and sports performance! The reason is mainly because of the biomechanical similarities of the movement and many sporting movements. The triple extension from hip, knee and ankle applies a large force production to move the weight, similar to jumping for a high ball, tackling and even evasion/side stepping !

The Step Up is our go to single leg exercise to improve hip and knee stability. The key is to push as much as possible from the front leg minimizing push off with the back leg. ------------------- Separating this in to two motions is helpful. Slowing it down helps load the front leg and maximize benefit. --------------------------------- Emphasizing the knee dominant position with a forward shin angle loads the knee and hip to maximize benefit.
