I literally laughed out loud because luck had NOTHING to do with my weight loss. I didn’t lose 100 pounds because I was “lucky.” I lost weight when I finally decided that at 23 years old and 246 pounds I was tired of having stomach rolls and finding new stretch marks everyday and endangering my health by being so obese. I found my “why” and I found my motivation and it was my own hard work and consistency and lifestyle changes that caused the scale to change. There is no way to get lucky or cheat weight loss: if I had a crappy weekend with my nutrition the scale showed it Monday morning. One of the hardest challenges for those who count their calories is staying on the track. Not every day is the same, and some days we are hungrier than others. Some people prefer eating more calories when they workout, some prefer eating more calories during weekends when they are going out, etc. For those reasons, they believe they can’t count macros. However, tracking macros is actually quite flexible and calorie cycling can help many of you. 👇
The first thing you hear when it comes to tracking calories is to set your calories and eat that amount of calories. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to eat exact amount of calories each day. Your weekly calorie intake is more important than your daily calorie intake, so you don’t have to eat the same amount of calories each day. 🤗
Let’s say that your goal calories are 2000. That means that by the end of the week, you should have eaten 14000 (2000x7) calories. You CAN eat 2000 calories each day, or you can eat less calories on days you don’t feel the need for them, and then eat more calories when you need. If you prefer eating more calories during weekends, you can “save” them by eating less calories throughout the week. 🍷
However, make sure to still keep your calories on track. Eating 200 less calories each day of a work week doesn’t allow you to eat 2000+ calories more during weekend, because that way you can destroy your progress. In other words, if your weekly calorie intake should be around 14000 calories, make sure to not make it 16000. Yes, calorie cycling gives you flexibility, but the total amount of calories should remain the same. 👌

💡FIT TIP: Drink more water!💧 I’ll even admit this is a hard one for me... But water is VITAL for both muscle growth and fat loss💪🏻 No, not energy drinks, or coffee, or sports drinks, or diet soda— WATER!💧 So how much water per day? It depends on the person, but at least 1oz per 2lbs of body weight and more if you’re exercising to replenish👌🏻 The magic number for me is 100oz— if I can hit about that everyday I’m happy🙃 And since I carry my 75oz dumbbell water bottle with me in the gym, I make sure I finish this guy off in my workout and then I sip on my 25oz BPA-free canister throughout the day💦

I'm a big fan of encouraging people to celebrate their small wins and to feel good about the things they've achieved so far!
It's so important to generate that positivity and give yourself a boost when you need it.
It can be so easy to just keep dwelling on how far you still have to go that you forget how far you've already come.
For example you might now be getting to the gym every week, or you might have got into the habit of eating a home cooked meal every night.
If these are things you weren't doing before then you are making progress and that's what counts!
Other times you might need to dig out that picture you took at the start and look it against how you look now to realise the changes you're making. You might not be where you want to be yet but that doesn't mean you can't give yourself a pat on the back for the changes you've made so far.
Celebrate the small wins, give yourself credit for what you've achieved so far and use that positivity to keep you going!

🌟QUINOA🌟(pronounced as KEEN-Wah) is a “superfood” or “supergrain” are seeds and a great replacement for rice/wheat in the diet. .
Why is it so hyped? - for all the right reasons!
Quinoa is awesome because -
1️⃣ It is naturally gluten free for those with an intolerance for “gluten”. 2️⃣It’s full of PROTEIN- 100g of quinoa contains 8g of protein. Perfect for vegan/vegetarian diets. It is a complete protein containing all the 9 essential amino acids. 🤩 Rivals Soybean and is a best source of plant-protein.
3️⃣ Full of FIBRE - research claims that quinoa has 2times the fibre of other grains. Works like a charm for gut-health. Ever since I started having quinoa I have had no problems! 🤓💩
4️⃣ Contains Iron and Magnesium - minerals that are hard to obtain. .
Taste - when cooked like rice, it tastes super bland. Almost nutty. Worse than brown rice. But I spice it up with cardamom pods, cinnamon and salt and dump it all in a rice-cooker ( lazy me ☃️).
Cooking methods -
1️⃣Rice Cooker - ratio is 1 cup grains to 2 cups of water.
2️⃣ Skillet - with veggies like the recipe above. .
Veggie Quinoa ( Ingredients) -
🍚 Quinoa 🥦 Onions, garlic, ginger, Serrano pepper- mandatory spices.
🥦 Mustard seeds, Cumin Seeds, Asafoetida, basil leaves, Italian seasoning - flavors. 🥦 Broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, peas, tomatoes - veggies ! .
1️⃣Toss the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida in a nonstick pan with light olive oil.
2️⃣ Add ginger, garlic, onions and sauté. Add salt.
3️⃣ Add carrots and bell peppers and sauté.
4️⃣ Add the seasonings and rest of the veggies.
5️⃣ Wash 1 cup quinoa and add it to the veggies.
6️⃣ Let it simmer till all the water evaporates- the seeds will swell up. .
Super delicious “curry” that masks the nutty taste of quinoa and gives you a huge helping of veggies! 😛😃
✅Quinoa Macros -
Serving size - 1 cup(cooked quinoa) -
⚙️ Protein - 8g.
⚙️ Carbs - 39g.
⚙️ Fat - 14g.
⚙️ Fibre - 5g
Total calories - 222 cals. .
💚My portion size for meal-prep is 1 cup of boiled quinoa. .

Starvation mode is a myth. Having a too large a calorie deficit leads ther body to reduce the number of calories being burned, slowing down weight loss.
There is no need to place yourself on rations. It is why many people fall of their diets. Enjoy your food! Eat within a reasonable deficit and the results will follow.

Eating at night is ok if you dont go over daily calories.
Over eating at night and going over calories is a problem.
If you are hungry not long after dinner and reach for snacks.
Up your protein and vegetable intake it will leave you feeling full for a while longer.

Some people would say that I’ve found a passion for fitness. To me, fitness is a bit more of a discipline and a hobby than something I’m passionate about. I definitely enjoy it and I like the activity/sport, but it doesn’t give me the same kind addictive fire that other passions in my life has. I’d literally work ‘round the clock without much rest or breaks on passions I’ve had in my life. This one is different. I can’t train all day. Thankfully fitness has brought a bit of a balance to my life since my others passions were borderline toxic addictions. 😊

I can’t lie, after class this morning, lunch with friends, seeing black panther (which was AMAZINGGGGGGGG), and then going to dinner....getting home at 9pm....the gym was the last place i was wanting to go. My bed seemed muchhhhhh more desirable. But thankfully, my hubby had committed to going to the gym with me tonight, and he always keeps his word, so to the gym we went 💪🏽🔥.
I took some preworkout (ONYL 1 SCOOP this time) and it took the edge off of my sleepiness. I was able to push through my whole workout, and I didn’t feel the total body prickles this time 🙌🏽! I definitely will be using it again, the next time i’m feeling tired before a workout.
Weight check, not happening until the end of the month. Last time I weighed, I was 216 after atlanta so hopefully i can go down a few pounds in the next 1.5 weeks🤷🏽♀️.

The left I was about 4 weeks out from my very first competition. I was hugely calorie deprived and had been for a very long time - consuming about 800 calories per day, no carbs, over training, I was grumpy and scrawny. At the time I thought I was killing it.
The right, I was 4 weeks post appendectomy surgery, which interrupted my comp prep. I was still consuming fairly high calories (including carbs), had energy, motivation and good mood. I looked the best I ever have. What you do to your body will reflect in how you look.
I’ve just spent the last 3 weeks undertaking a detox and dropped 3kg. I’m now starting a fat loss phase and can’t wait to see the results. All too often our posterior chain is neglected in our workouts – especially our core workouts.
We tend to focus on the abs ⚡and do a whole bunch of crunches.
But if we want to strengthen our core, we have to work more than our abs. We have to work everything from our shoulders to our knees on both our front and backside.

Keep on keeping on. People have noticed my weight loss but I don't really like talking about it because it feels like they are calling old me fat. Honestly, I am pretty happy where I am now. I fit into all of my clothes, am not plus size, and if I push 8 pounds down I am no longer obese. I guess I should want to go for less, but I will have to want it.
