Sleep Sabotages Gym Time!! Unfortunately, the disastrous impact spreads beyond diet and into your workouts. No matter what your fitness goals are, having some muscle on your body is important. Muscle is the enemy of fat—it helps you burn fat and stay young. But sleep (or lack of) is the enemy of muscle.
Lack of sleep makes it harder for your body to recover from exercise by slowing down the production of growth hormone—your natural source of anti-aging and fat burning that also facilitates recovery. This happens in two different ways:
1. Poor sleep means less slow wave sleep, which is when the most growth hormone is released.
2. A poor night of rest increases the stress hormone cortisol, which slows down the production of growth hormone. That means that the already reduced production of growth hormone due to lack of slow wave sleep is further reduced by more cortisol in your system. It’s a vicious cycle.
So TURN OFF YOUR PHONE, get some SLEEP!

Hiking down is usually the toughest; you’re being pushed by momentum, tired, barely lifting your feet off the ground. “You’ll trip on a pebble” as @spartandave3 likes to say. Many thoughts cross your mind when you’re trying to finish, but the conversation and comradely amongst the Spartans made for a good time coming down the mountain.

Attention: Success is not the bull**** that you see on Social Media. It's not the stacks of cash that you see, the big mansions, the great vacations and the job promotions. This is not success. These things, as important as they may be, are just some very small highlights of what success really is. Success is the process of growth, continuing your education, the expansion of your mind, the enlightenment of your spirit and the development of you as a person. Success is long sleepless nights that leave bags under your eyes, the dread that you feel in your body as you push yourself those last 10 seconds on that threadmill, success is going out for your run in the snow because you said you were going to go on that run one way or another, success is putting down that cigerette or bottle and taking one step at a time towards sobriety, success is taking that first step learning how to walk again after surgery. Success is all of these things that aren't sexy but they are damn inspiring. Success is the process the baby steps that most of us don't care to see nor do.. But I would like to challenge you to.
