🍷 Vietti Perbacco Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2012 @vietti_vino 🌍 Italy
💭 This is basically a mini-Barolo with the benefit of costing just half a price of its big brother. This Nebbiolo gets the same grape from the same Barolo parcels as Barolo Castiglione, but this is a so called “second choice”. One’s got to eat while waiting for Barolo ;) This was a 5 star experience for me. This wine reminded me of Milano girls - confident, impressive, stunning, strong and youngish, but at the same time sophisticated and impeccably elegant.
Open, mouthwatering aroma to black cherry, tobacco, violets and dried rose petals. Juicy mouth is filled with ripe cherries, strawberries and a hint of oak vanilla and hard caramel. A very easy drinking wine with fresh fruitiness and soft tannins.
🍽️ Great Italian wine = great Italian food. Paired with vitello tonnato, beef steak and melanzane alla parmigiana.

Italialainen #italianwine sekoiteviini #nebbiolo #pinotnero ja #barbera rypäleistä. Upea rubiininpunainen väri, maussa punaisia marjoja kuten luumua ja kirsikkaa. Pitkä jälkimaku, oiva kumppani italialaisille antipastoille, luultavasti myös pääsiäislampaalle. 🍷 Blended red wine with taste of red berries: sour cherries and plums. Beautiful red ruby color. Long taste, good pair for #antipasto and probably for Easter lamb. Produced by #aziendaagricolaabbona @marzianoabbona

2014 vintage received RP91.
It is sometimes called ‘Baby Barolo’. Probably because those that are oak-aged become castiglione and those not become this Perbacco~
Peppermint, mint and black pepper are first felt on nose with a true spicy flavor.
With a sip in the mouth, I felt the plum candies that I used to have as a kid. Its sweetness and floral flavors appear.
Tannin filling up between the teeth expresses its thickness and it is well-balanced with pleasant acidity.
Nebbiolo and pinot noir have some similarities. Drinking this wine, those who have experienced pinot noir may think of Cote Chalonnaise Mercury as it shows the characteristics of Bourgogne wine.
I usually pay attention to aging when drinking wine. Yet, I could not find out the ratio of new and old barrels from Google.
It is aged in French oak barrels (225 liters) for 4 months, in large Slovenian barrels for 20 months and in stainless steel for 2 months.
Thus, I am guessing that this strong tannin comes from new oak aging that lasted for 4 months; micro-oxidation in old barrels for 20 months; and in stainless steel for 2 months for its aromas and minerality. Well, it is my assumption~
This wine would be nice for those who cannot feel the charms of pinot noir. What I meant by this is that those who have not experienced pinot noir a lot or cannot feel its aromas and finish may think that pinot noir is rather plain. But, this wine is somewhat similar to pinot noir with lasting finish that will satisfy you~
this wine is slightly elegant, not too arrogant, proud or picky. It has its own attractive points just like every person.

A day-night St Paddy’s day double header.
The NV Jerome Prevost was from a 2014 base. The #pinotmeunier showed through with a robust quality along with red apples, red berries, minerals, red florals, baking spices, brioche, and biscuits. This is consistently a great #champagne that thrills the senses.
The 2011 Cascina Adelaide Cannubi was quite demure and very red fruited. The nose shows off some nuance with rose petals, crushed rocks, red cherries, strawberries, licorice, tar, and roasted herbs. This is drinking deceptively well right now as there are enticing red fruits, but with real stricter behind it.
