This really is the key to understanding what’s going on with our children and enabling us to support them in the way that THEY need to be supported.
When I first learned about five element personality types it really blew my mind (still does!). I was starting clinical rounds in my masters program and my interactions with patients went from good to amazing almost overnight. I was able to immediately see where someone was showing up and had this incredible window into their worldview even with a short interaction!
For example, metal types can be described as stoic and reserved. They highly value integrity and respect and their energy levels are more on the reserved side. Now compare with a fire type who is much higher energy and love movement. They are boisterous and value interpersonal relationships and connection. Each of these types may get angry and have an emotional outburst, but what is BEHIND the outburst will be different, as will what helps them feel resolution and move forward.
The metal may get angry when they feel their integrity is being questioned and they most likely feel supported with quiet time and solitude. Their anger feels sharp and cold (like metal). The fire may get angry when they feel disconnected and will feel most supported by spending time with people or a special person. Their anger rages hot but quickly burns out and they are ready to play and connect.
I tell you what, knowing these personality types has dramatically improved how I connect with and support our son. I’d love to hear from YOU! Comment and say hello!

Did you know kids LOVE acupuncture?!?!! I know, right?!
These two brothers actually fight over who gets to go first. Every. Single. Time. 😂
I absolutely love seeing kids learn about their bodies and their own capacity to heal. It’s amazing and a whole lot of fun.
Has your family ever used Chinese medicine and acupuncture?

Anyone? Just me?
While I do enjoy cooking, my skill level rests primarily at following recipes. I am blessed with a husband who can turn ‘nothing’ into an awesome meal. He is also gracious at my attempts and inspires me to keep learning to use my intuition in the kitchen.
How about you? Who is the chef in your house? What does your family love to eat?
