“[Ashtanga] is not just [about] the asanas. This is when you learn how you react, how the mind starts to talk, to say things. And if we won’t...we don’t change anything. But if we would just listen there, accept, and feel what happens inside, and be patient, then things start to change.” Lucia Andrade ☘️

Current situation..... being sick is the best excuse to practice “just being”. Everything is practice, taking it all in stride. Trusting my body knows what is what and in perfect alignment with this New Moon and Spring Equinox. She is clearing and rebooting making space for all the good that’s coming. So much rest and self love, self care in action. Trusting all is in perfect divine alignment!

🌸And what an absolutely gorgeous day it was! Spent some time outside in the warmth of the sun, walked with bare feet in the dirt, and ogled the newly budding flowers! I'm so happy this time of year has arrived, it is my absolute favorite. And if you read my caption from yesterday, I was in a much better mood today! I fully attribute that to the WAY I started my day today, versus yesterday. Today I was able to spend some time in meditation, and got in a good amount of yoga before I began the rest of my day. A big part of that is because I DID NOT touch my phone until I finished my morning ritual. I will be the first to admit that frequently, I immediately start checking emails or Instagram as soon as I rise in the am. I am addicted to that damn little piece of technology. However, this never bodes well. And I know better. But it happens. Yet the difference in the way my day flows is so strikingly obvious, I am now setting an intention to not let that happen anymore. Yes, I've set that intention before...🤣...but I'm definitely going to make more of an effort this time! :
I hope you too were able to get outside and enjoy this beautiful day. 😁✌🏼☀️

There's nothing selfish about trying to protect ourselves and our emotional wellbeing. Just like we lock our doors or set the alarm to protect our physical home and those who live in it, why wouldn't we protect our mental and emotional space too? In order to be the best versions of ourselves we have to develop boundaries and coping mechanisms for when things are overwhelming or less than ideal. This allows us to function at our highest and helps us to make emotional space for the ones in our lives that matter most💛
1. Detachment- what you give power to has power over you. When we sympathize so deeply with others, we tend to take on their pain. So letting go of the need to "fix" others all the time. You simply help people when they're ready vs taking on their problems as your own. *Of if I only knew this when I was younger... the number of boyfriends I tried to "fix" is staggering*😂
2. Journaling-regular journaling helps us to connect to our truest self and release stuck energy. I find it helpful to write down what I need to release and state how I want to feel.
3. Meditation-I will eventually write an entire post on this. Start small, maybe 5 minutes of sitting in silence and being present. The calm app is amazing.
4. Energy Vampires- be very aware of the people that leave you feeling drained after talking/spending time with them. Simply try to be mindful and limit interactions with them if possible. If that isn't an option, create very firm boundaries for yourself in these relationships.
5. Nature-nature is the world's greatest healer. Go outside, take your dogs to the park, walk barefoot. Being outdoors is grounding.
6. Building boundaries- say no when you need to. If you want to spend time alone, be honest about it. Block out time. Take care of yourself. Turn off your phone at certain times of the day. Let go of the guilt associated with not being everywhere all the time.
The first step is recognizing our thoughts as being just that, thoughts, vs. something that is true and definite. And over time, learning to decipher if they're even your own or if you're taking on the energy and emotions of those around you. Let it go💛

Spring is finally here!☀️ I know I completely feel like a big weight lifts off of me as soon as the sun and warmer weather starts. It’s an awesome time to maybe reflect back on what negative stuff you can let go of that doesn’t serve you anymore #springcleanyaself ☺️
